→ Used in wrapping test of nominal diameter 0.1mm -10.0mm steel wire and galvanized steel wire, copper and copper alloy contact wire, aluminum wire and its alloy steel wire, contact wire (trolley wire), conductor wire with different section, metal material, composite material, etc.
→ Wire sample are tightly wound on mandrel with specified diameter with a specified number of turns to observe the surface defects (cracks, peeling and cracking) of the wire.
→ASTM A401/A401M Standard Specification for Steel Wire, Chromium-Silicon Alloy. Oil-tempered or cold drawn wire 4.00mm and smaller in diameter shall wind on itself as an arbor without breakage. Larger diameter wire up to and including 8.00mm in diameter shall wrap without breakage on a mandrel twice the wire diameter. The wrap test is not applicable to wire over 8.00 mm in diameter.
→ ASTM A228/A228 M Standard Specification for Steel Wire, Music Spring Quality: Wire sample shall be closed wound on an arbor as prescribed in the following Table for a minimum of four full wraps. Wire so tested shall not show any splits or fractures.
→ISO7802 Metallic Materials-Wires Wrapping Test: it consists of winding a wire to a specified number of turns around a mandrel of the diameter specified in the relevant standard to form a closely wrapped helix. It may also include a specified sequence of winding and unwinding, or even rewinding.
